The refined home cooking comes courtesy of corporate professional Samaira Rubina C. Kavatkar – a chef by deep passion, if not by title – who grew up in cosmopolitan Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, in an East Indian Indo-Portuguese Catholic family.

East India here refers not to a geographic territory in India, but on contrary East Indians actually reside on the rugged section of the western coastline of India: the Bombay Coast.

Dinner will draw heavily on the culture and cuisine of her background and infused into the menu will be flavors and inspirations from the street foods of Bombay, childhood memories from Mauritius, influences from travels abroad, and secret family recipes, all given a unique and refined twist.

The evening celebrates East Indian slow food & other Indian flavors complete with homemade spice blends, pickles condiments, marinades and creations using the very best organic seasonal products from both Hong Kong and India. This opportunity to discover a diverse food culture from the source comes layered with delicious complexity, allied with harmonious ingredients and techniques.

Vincent Mui, Test Kitchen founder, explains how he was blown away when tasting her food:

“Samaira (Rubina) deftly combines the multiple spices and flavors of East Indian cuisine with a lightness of touch to craft truly memorable dishes. From the canapes through to dessert, dinner will be a revelation, even to established fans of Indian cooking. We expect our first South Asian pop-up in almost three years to prove very popular, so suggest booking early to avoid missing out.”
